From Friday to Sunday this weekend the National Hall in Olympia will host the Allergy & Free From Show 2013! I’m really excited because this is my first time, and I can’t wait to meet loads of new gluten-free people and producers.
If you want to go, tickets are available for free here.
I’m especially excited because I will be helping out at Isabel’s stand (that’s right, Isabel of the legendary pizza mix), number 169, for some of the show! So pop along to Isabel’s stand in the mornings for some samples and to say hi!
As a newbie, I asked on Twitter if anyone had any advice for me and here were some of the responses:
@gfandfabulous: “Grab as many freebies as possible”
@CeriKitchen: “Don’t eat before hand”
@Noomie82: “I’m getting there for the start (10am) so I can do a quick zip round all stands”
@barmycakes: “Definitely ‘kid in a sweet shop’ scenario. And it’s good to have a plan. Expect to be exhausted and much poorer!”
@kgollop: “There are dairy free things there too. Always check [that what you are eating is gluten-free]!”
@DavidJ_GF: “defo check. Easy to loose ur head. Especially as lot of stuff still contains Wheat or Oats! Plus someone went into anaphylactic last yr when dairy free & dairy samples got mistaken :(”
So I hope that helps anyone not knowing what to expect! Expect crowds, exercise caution, don’t eat beforehand, and if you’re on Twitter I find it helps at these events to wear a badge with your Twitter handle (at least, I intend to). That way you don’t have a whole awkward conversation with someone before realising that you tweet to each other all the time!
For those who live in the North of England, don’t feel left out, there will be another in Liverpool in October!
See you there!
