Tesco is my nearest supermarket (although we don’t do our weekly shop there) and since I’ve been baking all week in preparation for my Gluten-Free Baking at Christmas eBook, I’ve popped in a few times to stock up on supplies (mostly sugar and butter). I make it a habit to always check the FreeFrom section and the FreeFrom Frozen section just in case any new products appear.
And low and behold, glistening at me from the frozen section were Georgia’s Choice gluten-free chicken nuggets. I knew that Sainsbury’s do gluten-free chicken nuggets, but every time I’ve looked for them, they have been sold out, so these were the first chicken nuggets I’ve had in a very long time.
They were £2.99 a bag, which seemed like a lot but when I got them out there were 20 nuggets, so that’s cheaper than McDonald’s!
I loved them! The chicken was a little dry, not helped by the fact that we overcooked them and had run out of bbq sauce, but the breadcrumb coating was wonderful, and you honestly can’t tell they are gluten-free. Gluten does NOT equal taste, people!
When you are constantly experimenting with new recipes, it’s easy to forget that you are allowed to “cheat” and have a quick and easy dinner every once in a while. I’m so pleased that I’ve found somewhere which stock these. Thanks, Tesco, and DON’T YOU DARE DISCONTINUE THEM!
