As those close to me know, I’m a bit of a pizza fiend. After diagnosis, many a week was spent trying to figure out gluten-free pizza, with relative degrees of success. However, once I had tried Isabel’s pizza base mix, I was a lifetime convert.
A while back, Genius Foods drew my attention to their new tomato and mozzarella frozen pizza. However, the main problem I have with frozen gluten-free pizzas is the portion size. I’m well aware that they probably contain enough calories in that size for my “recommended daily allowance”, but it makes me sad that like everything gluten-free, they feel the need to patronise us with miniature pizza.
From the size of our food, you would think that they are catering for a tiny family of elves. Look, I know they want to appeal to those conscious about health, but if I am going to eat healthily I’ll have a salad, and when I want a pizza, I WANT A PROPER SIZED PIZZA!
The pizza was not bad tasting. It was a little cakey in texture and it didn’t help that I burnt it a bit (oops), but hey, it’s good if you’re in so much of a hurry that you don’t have time to make the dough for yourself. Or you are sending your child off to a sleepover or something. It was good, but I’m not going to rave about it.
